Run, walk, crawl or bike the length of New Zealand and be in to win amazing travel prizes courtesy of NZ Tourism Industry operators.
Let's face it, 2020 & 2021 have been rough years, and in 2022 connection to and support from other amazing human beings will be just as important.
The race aims to be more than just a virtual event. You will find community and connection with people from all over the world.
We will be fostering positivity and rewarding amazing members of our community with prizes along the way.
We are not just giving you a unique Virtual Event. We will also be showcasing some of New Zealand's greatest attractions and experiences.
We will be giving four people the best present ever and giving away the Ultimate NZ Travel Experience
A virtual race is a race that can be run, walked or cycled from any location you choose. You can ride, run, jog, or walk on the road, on the trail, on the treadmill, at the gym, or on the track (or even at another race).
You get to run your own race, at your own pace, and time it yourself. You log your miles into our system and get to virtually see your progress along the route.
The length of New Zealand if you travel by foot or bike is a stunningly beautiful 2,099 km (1,304 miles) from Cape Reinga in the north to Bluff in the south.
You can take on this incredible challenge yourself or team up and combine forces with your friends and your combined mileage will count towards the final tally.
You can start anytime you want during 2022 and complete the distance at your own pace.
2,099 km may seem like a long way but it's very achievable - especially the earlier you start. To illustrate, if you started on 1 March you've got 305 days to complete the distance before the event ends on 31 Dec. That's an average of just 6.9km a day.
What an incredible challenge to keep you motivated to hit that 2,000 km a year training goal that so many fall short of.
The main prizes are drawn 31 December and you don't have to have completed the distance to be eligible for these or great spot prizes awarded throughout the race.
A big improvement on the 2021 event is a new logging system with integration with Strava, Fitbit, Suunto, Garmin & Polar for automatic upload of your mileage.
We also have a manual entry tool to upload mileage for those who don't have GPS fitness trackers.
All mileage has to be logged by 31 Dec 2022.
Your medal will be shipped directly to you. There is no prize for fastest times!
All prizes will be randomly drawn as we have no "course marshals" or global time-keeping system to keep things 100% transparent and fair. Anyone cheating is therefore only cheating themselves and we will be looking for participants that are actively engaging in our Facebook community to award additional spot prizes and rewards for being great race ambassadors.
Each participant will be able to join the Facebook Group where an entire community of incredible human beings will be to share stories, support each other and where we will give you updates and announce prize winners along the journey.

Win The Ultimate NZ Travel Experience
The NZ tourism industry has faced huge challenges over the last two years with Covid travel restrictions and no immediate end in site due to NZ border restrictions. Despite this, last year New Zealand tourism operators generously donated a large number of amazing travel prizes. As at Feb 2022 we are endeavouring to secure similar commitments for the 2022 event.
In 2021 there were two major prizes, each for two people. Both prizes consisting of unforgettable tourism experiences from around New Zealand donated by local tourism operators. Estimated value of each major prize was $15,000.
These major prizes were awarded by a random draw - not for crossing the line first (something which can't be monitored in a virtual event). The main prizes were drawn 31 December and you didn't have to have completed the distance to be eligible to win.
Throughout the challenge, we also awarded fantastic spot prizes.
Follow our Facebook Page to get more information. as new sponsors and tourist attractions are added to the prize pool and also win great spot prizes.
